Set of six 19thC French Talking Plates

A wonderful set of six 19thC French Talking Plates sourced in Paris. French talking plates, also known as "assiettes parlantes," were designed ‘to spark conversation and entertainment during meals’. The themed set would gradually be revealed as the meal progressed, encouraging diners to discuss the images and captions! Now these sets are used for a more decorative purpose, and look fantastic displayed on a dresser or grouped on a wall in a kitchen or dining setting.
Sold as a set.
Some very small chips to one plate and a few hairline cracks which is typical of age, but otherwise these are in wonderful condition!
