An exquisite large French Rouen Forges-les-Eaux platter, commonly known as “Cul Noir”, referring to the distinctive black underside of the piece. In lovely condition for its age, with no chips and beautifully solid construction, this particular example has a subtle blue tinge to the glaze that makes it especially beautiful.
Exceptionally large in scale, this is a statement piece in its own right. I love these styled on a buffet or hung on the wall - such a wonderful way to add character, colour and a sense of history to a space.
